  • Encourage a high level of wellness by maintaining a caring and stimulating environment.
  • Encourage residents to maintain outside contacts with family/whanau, friends, church and other relevant groups.
  • Facilitate mixing with other residents and joining in activities in the home. Encourage all residents to maintain links with cultural or spiritual home and ensure staff are knowledgeable and sensitive to the values and beliefs which are important to the resident. This will be reflected in training.
  • Ensure consultation acknowledges cultural differences.
